World's Biggest Problems

Our world’s biggest problems:

1.     Government/political structure: The election process and voting structure needs to be overhauled. There are too many non productive members involved as well as too many people with their own agenda and no way to get rid of them. There needs to be clear and concise punishments for not showing up and actual follow through as well as new laws on how long one can serve.
2.     Foster Care/Adoption processes: I have had personal struggle with becoming a foster parent and looking at adoption. The process is not protecting children while prohibiting those that are decent homes from having placement. Social workers need more resources. They are overworked and underpaid which leads to visitations being missed and paperwork being lost. The states must step in and change this.
3.     Homelessness: There are too many families without homes. I believe that all foreclosure homes should be opened up to those that are homeless as a part of rehabilitation.
4.     Wasteful society: So much is disposable, but not all is recyclable. I think there should be more programs that provide incentive for those to stop filling the landfills and reusing items.
5.     Media propaganda: Every time there is a controversial situation, the media immediately takes a stand and it’s their way or no way. I believe there should be punishment for irresponsible media. Lying for ratings is no way to exist.
6.     Respect in our society: There is a major problem in our society when it comes to respecting one another. If my beliefs don’t match up, we need to agree to disagree. This concept seems lost these days. I believe this starts in the home. Parents need to be more involved and actively teach their kids tolerance.
7.     Money making decisions rather than ethics: I constantly see decision being made politically and legally due to a monetary factor not because of what is right. For example, a lunch lady being fired for giving a child a free lunch. This can be fixed by more positive responses from ethical decisions and removing those from power who only seem to consider the dollar amount they’ll benefit from.
8.     Obesity: I believe this is getting more notice, but obesity is a really harmful problem. Our foods need to become less manufactured and more health conscious. Let’s ask our government to provide benefits to companies who are clean and small business farmers in lieu of lining the pockets of manufacturers like Nabisco.
9.     Public services are maiming people rather than assisting them: All government assistance programs need to be overhauled. They are not helping those who want to help themselves, instead keeping people in poverty because they see no way to get out. These programs should be made temporary and actual help

10.  Overmedicated: With every illness or difference in behavior, doctors are so quick to medicate. We are medicated for side affects of other medication instead of focusing on the underlying cause. There needs to be more natural health emphasis and preventative measures. More encouragement rather than getting kickbacks from pharmaceutical companies.

  1. I'll definitely say I believe that if all of these problems were solved we would have a better planet as a whole. I didn't even think about listing the media, but it really contributes to a lot of social imbalance we have in society. I also listed problems related to homelessness and the wastefulness that is so apparent in today's world! If you would like to see what I said about the topics feel free to check out my post. :)
